What is PVC Aadhaar Card?

Aadhaar Card or Aadhaar number is a 12-digit unique identification number provided by the Indian government to its residents. It is a randomly generated number by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Aadhaar is issued after verifying the identity of the applicant.

PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) Aadhaar cards are the most recent development in Aadhaar cards to make it handy and durable. You can easily apply for PVC Aadhaar through the UIDAI website.

What are the different types of Aadhaar Cards?

Currently, there are four different types of Aadhaar cards -

  • Aadhaar letter - Aadhaar letter is a long form of the Aadhaar card that can be used as an Aadhaar card. You can either keep the entire letter or cut off the upper part.

  • eAadhaar - This is the soft copy of the Aadhaar card, which is available in digital/electronic form. It can be downloaded from the website.

  • mAadhaar - mAadhaar is also a digital form of the Aadhaar card. Even though it is similar to eAadhaar, it is available on your mobile and can be easily accessed from there.

  • PVC Card - PVC Aadhaar card is the latest type of Aadhaar card that will be printed on PVC. Aadhaar holders can pay INR 50 and apply for a PVC Aadhaar card through the official website.

How to apply for PVC Aadhaar Cards?

If you want to apply for the all-new PVC Aadhaar card, here are the steps you must follow -

  • Step 1. Visit the official website of Aadhaar. Now click on ‘Order Aadhaar PVC.’ You can find it under the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab.

  • Step 2. Now you must enter your Aadhaar, EID, or Virtual ID numbers. Enter the security code and the OTP received on your mobile and submit it. You can also apply for a PVC Aadhaar card on a different number if you are not in possession of the registered mobile number. You can simply click on ‘My mobile is not registered’ and get OTP on any mobile.

  • Step 3. In the next window, a preview of your Aadhaar details will appear. Make sure all the details are correct. Once verified, you can simply click the ‘Make Payments’ button.

  • Step 4. Choose the payment option convenient for you. The charge for applying for a PVC Aadhaar card is INR 50. You can either pay through debit/credit card, net banking, or UPI.

  • Step 5. Once your payment receipt is generated, you can download it in pdf format.

The PVC Aadhaar card is sent to you by post within 5 working days after receiving the request.

How to check the status of your PVC Aadhaar Application?

Once you have applied for a new PVC Aadhaar card, you can track the status of your application by following the below-mentioned steps -

  • Visit the official website of UIDAI. Check the ‘My Aadhaar’ tab and click on ‘Check Aadhaar PVC card status.’

  • Now enter your Aadhaar number and the security code. You can get an OTP either on your registered mobile number or an alternate mobile number by clicking on ‘My mobile is not registered.’ Remember to select the terms and conditions box before submitting the same.

  • You can see the ‘SRN number’ and ‘status’ of your request. You can also download the acknowledgment slip in pdf format.
